Feeling Stressed in the morning? Make BREAKFAST!

Part of being human, I suppose, is waking up some mornings with percolating blood and a raging persona that wants to tear this word in half. With jagged, talon-like fingers poised above the ground, ready to strike and dig deep into the Earth to begin such destruction, there are those pulses and thoughts that buzz about our brains, incinerating the skull with a fury that, supposedly, Hell hath none of - if you're a woman. If you're a man, your fury is probably pretty even and on-the-money with Hell even when scorned.

However, there is a strange remedy I've recently discovered. Unfortunately if you do find yourself waking up with a "blue moon in your eye" as Alabama 3 would say, you're born under a bad sign and have no cure. For the rest of us, there is the therapeutic task of making breakfast.

Some of the younger folk are grumbling now. I can tell. Work. Doing something. Labor. Suck it up.

Being of the instant gratification generation myself, I've found that working or performing some task that has a direct result always seems to be therapeutic. Whether it's yard work or making dinner, there is a certain sensation of ease and serenity that washes over the soul as energy has been transferred from the creator to the product, and then back again (in the case of food). There's a cycle built. A connection formed. A one-ness (if you want to go that route). "I am one with the omelette."

With the economy dispelling as much impending doom as it is, and the job market flailing like a fish out of water, it's hard to avoid that darkened mood that's permeating our air space. The world sold to us by advertisements is crumbling, and a new one is about to take shape. First, we must bear through the darkness though. We must struggle, fight, and adapt like so many humans have done before us to evolve into the docile creatures we find ourselves today. It's a time of reawakening. I feel we all "know" this but  just prefer to deny it. It's easier that way.

However, that doesn't mean that this needs to weigh heavy on our minds 24 hours a day. We are creatures that need comfort and ease at times. We need to create, and we need to see the results of our construction.

I chose to mention breakfast specifically because it's the beginning meal of the day. It's the one that can set the whole universe in order before the dawn has morphed into noon. I've noticed with myself that if I take the time to make some eggs, toast, diced fruit, sausage, bacon, hash browns, or whatever else people choose to devour ravenously in the morning, there's that certain sense of accomplishment already in place. I did a small amount of work for myself, in an attempt to care for myself, and there was a direct result. Breakfast was made. It was delicious, and I was the one who completed it.

It's quite simple really, but it's something I feel people often ignore. Yet, it can be so worthwhile. If you don't already, put on some tunes and jam out while you prepare your own food in the morning. See how you feel. Then get back to me.
